Boy and his Blob Pic

Here is my latest custom. I just picked up Boy and His Blob for Wii, and I love it! I had to make a custom figure and I had the perfect base to make it. I used a Revoltech Yotsuba figure and sculpted everything else. I had to shorted the legs, arms, and torso to get the proportions right, but in the end it came out. Check out My Flickr Page to see more pics.

Custom Figures Picture

Here is a bunch of customs that I did this last month. I was trying to be a little more off-beat with my figures this time. I know these won't get as much attention as my video game customs, but I am doing this for fun and not attention. So here is what I came up with.

One of my favorite web cartoons is homestarrunner, and every once in a while, I like to pay tribute to them. Here is Strong Badman. He goes around Strongbadia demanding danishes and kicking butt. I used a wrestling figure and I sculpted the head and hands. I plan on making a couple more from the series like Coach Z and Bubs.

Next I made the Crimson Chin. I love fairly odd parents, and I thought that this was a good chance to make something from the show. He is a little darker than I had hoped, but still came out really good. The only thing I had to sculpt was the chin and mouth.

The Ronald McDonald figure was a spur of the moment custom. I was at a flea market and saw this figure with a giant afro. I thought he would make a great clown figure. What better clown than the most famous one. Not sure who the wrestling figure was that I used, but I loved the way it came out.

Lastly, my Koala Spartan. This isn't a new one, but I haven't written about it yet, so I thought I would. I wanted to make a custom koala figure, and so I made this one. I am currently working on a battle mech for him. To check out all my customs go to My Flickr Page.

Bob-omb wind up

I found a wind-up bowling game somewhere, and I thought that the ball would make a great Bob-omb with some adjustments. It was fairly simple to do, and the end result is pretty impressive. It reminds me of the Bob-omb from the Super Mario Movie, except mine is cooler, because that movie really sucked. The only thing is that this jumps and does not walk. Check out the video to see what I mean:

KodyKoala's Posable Gutsman

Posable Gutsman

Here is something I did because I did not like the original vinyl figure. The original Gutsman figure, only had 3-4 points of articulation. I wanted a Gutsman that could look like he was throwing the huge boulders, so I redid him with better joints. I used the same LEGO joints that I did when I made my Custom Airman figure. I love this figure a lot more now that it can do more. The only other thing that I want to do is to make the figures and hands movable, but I haven't found the right parts to make it look correct. If you want to see more, check out My Flickr Site. Here is a picture of the original for comparison.

Bloo Ogre

Finally, I have my finished product for my Bloo Ogre Munny Design. I have been meaning to post this for weeks, but work has been keeping me swamped. I love the way this one came out. I wanted to do a munny that was my own character design. This was the first thing that came to mind. You can check out more pictures at my Flickr page.

Junkbot

I was deeply inspired by Tinkerbots and so I decided to make one while I was at work. This isn't the first junkbot that I have made, but this is the first I have posted. My very first junkbot was made from CDrom Lenses and capacitors. I will post pictures when I find him. This junkbot was made from an old mouse, some old clock parts, badge clips, and some pocket flashlights I had around my desk. This was another work boredom project. Check out the pictures at My Flickr Page.

Custom Animal Crossing Qees

I have finally gotten around to taking pictures of a lot of things I have been working on, so I am hoping to be able to post one new thing everyday for the rest of this week. Here are my custom Animal Crossing Qees. The 2.5" Tom Nook was actually a spur of the moment idea, but I think it came out pretty cool, and it complements the 8" egg Qee quite nice. I have a bunch of pictures of the finished product on My Flickr Page. I love the way it came out, and I am really starting to like painting scenes on vinyls.

animal crossing custom idea

Lately, I have been completely addicted to Animal Crossing City Folk. I wanted to make a custom that would reflect my current interest in this awesome game, so I decided to do my first 8" Qee. I have done a small one before, but I have always wanted to try something bigger. I ordered it yesterday, so I hope to get it soon, but I probably won't be able to start this project for a week or so. I just finished my Bloo Ogre Munny and I will get the pictures taken this weekend. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Christmas Wishlist

It is really late for me to be posting this, but work has been keeping me really busy. Here are a big list of things that I would love to get this Christmas. I have really been enjoying my Vinyl Hobby, so the majority of it is Vinyl Toys. Now in no particular order:

Custom Mario Figure

Here is my latest custom of Mario, Princess Peach and Toad action figures. They look a little creepy, and the Princess ended up being a little too albino, but I think they were decent for only my second attempts at action figures. The Princess was the hardest, because I had to get the face just right, and I don't think I did a great job, but for now it will do. Check out the rest of the pics at My Flickr Page.

Custom Airman Figure

Here is my custom Airman figure. A couple of weeks ago, a video showed up on youtube that showed someone who made one from a Gundam model and an electric motor. I couldn't afford the parts to recreate his efforts, so I decided to try to make one with thing that I had lying around the house, which happened to be a crap load of Lego bricks. Using Mighty Putty and super glue, I was able to create this figure. Check out all the pictures at My Flickr Page

Hammer Mario

I have actually had the Mario finished for a while now, but it has taken me a while to get the hammers made. I thought the Munny form well suited Mario in this form. Not much to say about this except that I made the hammers from scratch, which was a real pain. I used acrylic paint, mighty putty for the hammers, epoxy putty for the Mario sculpt, and an old plastic Easter egg for the shell. Check out more pictures at My Flickr Page.

Luigi Action Figure

Here is my latest custom, a Luigi action figure. I have been wanting to try my hand at making an action figure, but I could not find my inspiration. This is what I think Luigi would look like if her were real and on steroids. I made the overalls, shoes, and mustache from mighty putty. I got the hat from another Luigi figure that I picked up. I know this is a little out of my realm, so any criticism would help me the next time I decide to butcher an action figure...LOL. Check out more pictures on My Flickr Page

Alien Koala

I have posted this on a bunch of message boards, but I just realized I forgot to post it here. Here is KodyKoala's Halloween Costume. He told me he wanted to be a little green Martian, so I made him into one. I was fortunate enough to get the Munny Teddy Bear, and so I converted it into a Koala. This is one of my first times that I used Mighty Putty, and I must say that I love it. It sands a lot easier than epoxy putty. I am hoping to make a new version of Kody every year, but it depends on how my schedule looks. For more pictures, check out My Flickr Site

Bowser Chariot

If you frequent My Flickr Page, then you have probably seen this idea floating around for a while. I had to add princess peach to the final concept because the figures that I got to use for the munny, were slightly too small and I didn't want to waste space. I decided to add the princess because in the last level of the game, she would pop up and give Mario a mushroom in the middle of his long battle with Bowser Koopa. Hopefully I can get a munny and start on this soon. I have to go back up to Maryland for work, so I think that will be when I get a chance to work on it.

Moon Pearl Link Concept Art

Moon Pearl Link

I know that I did a 3" Dunny with this concept, but lately I have been revisiting old designs and trying to figure out how to improve them. This is Link from Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past, when he didn't have this Moon Pearl. The original concept was good, but the follow through wasn't very good because I was just starting on my customs, and I was in a rush. Now I see that taking your time and adding a lot of details make your piece stand out even more. I added some shading and fur effects to make this idea a little bit better. I would love to hear what you think about it.

Mega Man Mighty Mugg

I have finally finished my first Mighty Mugg! I have had this drawn out for months, but I never got around to actually making him. This was a little interesting because I didn't know how to take the arms and head off until I was more than half way done, so I just left it all on and painted around it. It came out very nice, and I can't wait to do my next one. If you want to check out more pictures, you can see them at My Flickr Page

Kody at Halloween

I know it is a little early to be talking about Halloween, but it has been my experience that if you don't look for your costume early, you are going to be stuck with the leftovers...you know where all you have are bits and pieces from different costumes. One year I was a one legged-pokemon-pirate-pimp, it was interesting. Anways, here is what I am also working on. I got a Munny Teddy Bear with my last munny, and I wanted to make Kody. I wanted to do something different, so I decided to turn him into an alien. This is what he will look like when I am done painting him. I have already put the ears and the nose on the figure, and it looks awesome. I was using epoxy putty, but I started using Mighty Putty, which is working a lot better. It is lighter and comes out a lot smoother when you sand it. I can't wait for this to be finished.

Bloo Ogre Munny Concept

Bloo Ogre Concept

I am away at work in Aberdeen, MD. I miss home and the family so much, but I am getting some good drawing time in. This is a concept piece I want to make. I am always making video game related vinyls, and I want to try some personal designing. No real inspiration for this, I just doodled it in my notebook, and then decided to draw it up in illustrator. I am really trying to play with colors and get a feel for what my style is. I get so caught up doing other peoples characters, I forget that I need to develop my own style. I am still going to do a bunch of video game characters, but I am going to throw in a personal design here and there to get my wheels going.

Yoshi Island Munny

Here is the next Munny in my collection of customs. I wanted to get away from character munnys and actually try a scene on a munny. I was trying to push myself to try something a lot more detailed than my Toad or Piranha Plant Munnys. I love the way it came out, and I will be doing a lot more of these when I get a chance. As always, constructive criticism is always appreciated. If you want to see more pic, head on over to my flickr to see bigger pics.

Master Chief Mighty Mugg

The first time I saw a mighty mugg, I knew that they would be perfect for customizing. I am currently working on a Megaman. Here is a perfect example of the awesomeness that can come from these unique figures. XenaObsessed has created this great Master Chief Might Mugg which can be purchase from her Etsy store. I notice that a lot of people sell their customs, but I like to keep mine. I guess when I start running out of room, I will start selling them.

Koala Crash Soopa

Here is my latest Soopa Coin-up Bros. Custom. I combined my love on animation, koalas, electronics, video games and vinyls into one compact little piece. Check out the pictures on My Flickr. I used an old Gameboy Advance SP that I had lying around and an EZFLASH III. I think it came out very well, even though the video is a little grainy. I am going to post the actual cartoon on my website or on youtube eventually, but for now, here is the video of the cartoon:

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted, but I have been out of town for work, and I might be going to Hawaii for my job, so I haven't had time to do any customs or look up anything cool. I decided to spend time with my family since my stay in Hawaii will be about a month. I have a bunch of great ideas in mind, but I need the time to work on them. Here is a sample of my next Soopa. It is a Dookie Poo rip off, but I love the style. Since I am still trying to learn techniques, I think it is ok. The only difference is that I am using a GBA for the screen instead of an ipod. I know I will get a lot of crap for copying another artists idea, but I want one, and I don't want to spend the $1000 to pick it up, so I thought I would make one. I will have video and everything when I get it done.

Custom Soopa Homestarrunner

Check out my latest custom Soopa/Munny. I made a custom Bubs Munny, and then I made the Soopa to be his concession stand. It took me a while to get the idea together, but I think it came out great. The hardest part was probably figuring out what to make the counter top out of. Check out pictures of my Bubs Munny and my Bubs' Concession Stand

Lakitu Munny

Check out my latest custom. This is my first try at sculpting actual parts for a munny. The idea was really good, but I think the follow through lacked a little bit. I could have done a lot better job on the nose and the glasses, but Epoxy putty is so hard to work with and it dries so fast. I think I may have to invest in some Milliput instead. Maybe that will work better. For what it's worth, this was still a great learning experience, and hopefully the next sculpt will be better. I also had to switch Clear Coats. I use to use this stuff that I found at Wal-Mart, but they stopped carrying it. I switched to Automotive Clear Coat. It seems to work good, but I have to be careful because it likes to clump. Check out all the pictures on My Flickr.

Master Chief My Little Pony

I am all about video game customs, but this is a little out there. Here is a one of a kind Master Chief My Little Pony made by Anime_Amy. It is an interesting piece, but I am not sure I like it enough to drop over $100, which is what the eBay auction is up to. This type of custom is not my cup of tea, but I know a lot of people who are really into unique and out there things, so I wanted to highlight this unique find.

Yo Noid Soopa Coin Up Custom

Check out my latest custom vinyl. I decided to pull out some nostalgia by doing this Soopa Coin Up Bros. Vinyl with the old game Yo! Noid. I really love this DIY kit by ESCToys. I was really inspired, and though it didn't come out exactly how I wanted it, it came out really nice. For more pictures, check out my Flickr Page.

Piranha Plant

Usually I post about cool toys that other people have made, but today I am showing one of my own. I just finished it this weekend, and I think it came out awesome. This is my Piranha Plant, and you can see more pictures at Flickr. Tell me what you think, I love getting feedback and comments on what I can do better!

Super Mario Wii Mod

Mario Wii Mod

There have been a lot of great Wii Mods and some of my favorites is the Metroid Mod, and the Yoshi Mod, but this one takes the cake. I found this mod on Wii Fanboy and it looks amazing. BeerBellyJoe sculpted the plumber's figure out of clay and painted it by hand. On the other side is a pipe that can hold your controller. Check out the Wii Fanboy gallery for all the great pics.
