Gutsdozer Custom

I know that this has already been posted all over the place, but I wanted to write up the process and why I did what I did. For the torso I used a Mecha Hulk. I got this off ebay, but it was missing the back panel, so I improvised a gas tank using a 5 hour energy bottle and some mighty putty. I used some spare parts for the helmet and the face guard. For the wheels, I used a 1989 GI Joe Pulverizer. I used super glue and mighty putty to connect the two halves together. Gutsdozer originally popped Neo-Mets from his chest, so I thought he needed to have one. For the Neo-Met, I used a Terminator Head cut in half, shoes from a Luigi figure that I had already used to make my Super Mario Custom Figures and an egg from an egg machine. To see more pics, go to My Flickr Page. Here are some more pics in case you didn't want to go to my flickr page :(

Custom King Hippo

I have finally made a King Hippo Custom Figure. I was having a hard time finding a base figure to use, but I found a figure that is perfect. I used a Blob build-a-figure as the base and the results came out really cool. For this piece, I went for form over function, so the legs do not move, but the arms, head, and feet still move. I have had this done for a while, but I haven't had a chance to post it. I was beat out by fugazi's awesome custom king hippo. Here are some more pics:

Dr. Wily and Robot Masters

I always wondered why Dr. Wily never created an awesome Robot suit to kick Megaman's butt. Here is what I imagined a Dr. Wily mech would look like. I tried to stay true to Dr. Wily's style by using a skull on the front and a bubble top for him to look down on things. I also made Gutsman and Metalman. I made these look a little more industrial because they were working robots that were reprogrammed to be evil, or so the plot of Megaman 1 says. I tried to keep the color schemes really close to the original, but I did change some things, especially on Metalman. If you would like to see more pics, check out My Flickr Page to see more. Here are some more after the cut:

Wario Figure

Here is what I think Wario would look like if he were an action figure. I found the base figure at a flea market, and the rolls made me think that he would make a good Wario figure. I never realized how feminine a guy could look with purple overalls, until I started to paint him. Luckily I was able to darken up the purple, and make it a bit more masculine. My favorite part is probably the mustache. I wanted a different style of mustache for this figure, and I thought that it would look cool to connect to the side burns. For more pictures, hit up My Flickr Page and let me know what you think!

Chibi Robo Pic

After playing Chibi Robo on the Gamecube and DS, I wanted one to clean up my house for me, but unfortunately nano robotics isn't quite there yet. So, I decided to at least have a figure of Chibi to remind me to someday build one that actually works. I used Lego Bricks to make the head, arms and legs, and I used a highlighter to make the body. I also used a plug from an old game system to make...well...the plug. If you want to see more pictures, head over to My Flickr Page and check out all of the awesome pictures.

Koala Bros 1Koala Bros 2

Here is something that I thought would be cute, and it only took be about 20 minutes to do. As you all know, I love Super Mario Bros. It was only natural to make a custom Koala based on the game. I would have made one sooner, but I couldn't figure out what to use for the hat. Luckily, I found an old Mario plush that I won from a claw machine, and used parts from that. I really wasn't trying to be perfect, it was just a cute project. I am working on a bunch of other projects to, and they will be out eventually. Hope this will hold you guys over for a couple of weeks until I can get more.

Bob-omb wind up

I found a wind-up bowling game somewhere, and I thought that the ball would make a great Bob-omb with some adjustments. It was fairly simple to do, and the end result is pretty impressive. It reminds me of the Bob-omb from the Super Mario Movie, except mine is cooler, because that movie really sucked. The only thing is that this jumps and does not walk. Check out the video to see what I mean:

KodyKoala's Posable Gutsman

Posable Gutsman

Here is something I did because I did not like the original vinyl figure. The original Gutsman figure, only had 3-4 points of articulation. I wanted a Gutsman that could look like he was throwing the huge boulders, so I redid him with better joints. I used the same LEGO joints that I did when I made my Custom Airman figure. I love this figure a lot more now that it can do more. The only other thing that I want to do is to make the figures and hands movable, but I haven't found the right parts to make it look correct. If you want to see more, check out My Flickr Site. Here is a picture of the original for comparison.

Bloo Ogre

Finally, I have my finished product for my Bloo Ogre Munny Design. I have been meaning to post this for weeks, but work has been keeping me swamped. I love the way this one came out. I wanted to do a munny that was my own character design. This was the first thing that came to mind. You can check out more pictures at my Flickr page.

Junkbot

I was deeply inspired by Tinkerbots and so I decided to make one while I was at work. This isn't the first junkbot that I have made, but this is the first I have posted. My very first junkbot was made from CDrom Lenses and capacitors. I will post pictures when I find him. This junkbot was made from an old mouse, some old clock parts, badge clips, and some pocket flashlights I had around my desk. This was another work boredom project. Check out the pictures at My Flickr Page.

Paper Clip Mario Kart

Boredom can drive a person to create a lot of interesting things. Here is something that I made when I was bored at work on day. I think it came out pretty cool, and at least it is recognizable. I have a couple other things that I made while I was working, and I will be posting some more boredom projects later this week. Check out more pictures at My Flickr Page

Custom Animal Crossing Qees

I have finally gotten around to taking pictures of a lot of things I have been working on, so I am hoping to be able to post one new thing everyday for the rest of this week. Here are my custom Animal Crossing Qees. The 2.5" Tom Nook was actually a spur of the moment idea, but I think it came out pretty cool, and it complements the 8" egg Qee quite nice. I have a bunch of pictures of the finished product on My Flickr Page. I love the way it came out, and I am really starting to like painting scenes on vinyls.

Tinkerbot's creations

These are amazing pieces that were created using junk and stuff that were found at swap meets and thrift stores. Tinkerbots' flickr page has a wide variety of creations from robots to ray guns. According to his profile he loves things retro and sci-fi and the feel of 30's, 40's and 50's, and you can tell by his work. He seems to update every couple of days, so keep an eye out for this artist and his great creations.

Mario Kart Munny

I have been really bad about posting my finished customs lately. I have already finished my Bloo Ogre, and I am almost finished with my Animal Crossing Qee. I promise I will get it out here in the next week or so. My wife got me a Mega Munny for my birthday, and I am so happy. I have always wanted to do a Mega Munny. I decided to make the Munny into a Mario Kart track. Here is a base design. The final will be a lot more detailed, and I am sure I will have added a lot more to the landscaping, but this is a good start.

animal crossing custom idea

Lately, I have been completely addicted to Animal Crossing City Folk. I wanted to make a custom that would reflect my current interest in this awesome game, so I decided to do my first 8" Qee. I have done a small one before, but I have always wanted to try something bigger. I ordered it yesterday, so I hope to get it soon, but I probably won't be able to start this project for a week or so. I just finished my Bloo Ogre Munny and I will get the pictures taken this weekend. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Christmas Wishlist

It is really late for me to be posting this, but work has been keeping me really busy. Here are a big list of things that I would love to get this Christmas. I have really been enjoying my Vinyl Hobby, so the majority of it is Vinyl Toys. Now in no particular order:

Throwing Star Magnets

Shuriken Magnets

There is a big debate on which is better, pirates or ninjas. I personally think ninjas are better with their stealthy-ness, and black pajamas. Show off your ninja pride with these magnet throwing stars being sold at Epauletshop. You can get two of these to stick wherever you want for only $19. This price is a bit steep, but for the greatness that you will show for getting these, it might be worth it.

PETA Likes Cooking Mama

Cooking Mama Spoof

PETA is a crazy bunch of people. I think cruelty to animals is wrong, but some of the folks are a little bit extreme. In their extreme opinions, comes another great flash game called Cooking Mama, Mama Kills Animals. It is a way to inform people about all the gross and wrong things that happen when it comes to buying a turkey. I think this game was very well made, and is just another example of how games can be educational. Of course it isn't going to stop me from eating meat or turkey, but I did find it amusing.

Custom Mario Figure

Here is my latest custom of Mario, Princess Peach and Toad action figures. They look a little creepy, and the Princess ended up being a little too albino, but I think they were decent for only my second attempts at action figures. The Princess was the hardest, because I had to get the face just right, and I don't think I did a great job, but for now it will do. Check out the rest of the pics at My Flickr Page.

Custom Airman Figure

Here is my custom Airman figure. A couple of weeks ago, a video showed up on youtube that showed someone who made one from a Gundam model and an electric motor. I couldn't afford the parts to recreate his efforts, so I decided to try to make one with thing that I had lying around the house, which happened to be a crap load of Lego bricks. Using Mighty Putty and super glue, I was able to create this figure. Check out all the pictures at My Flickr Page

Topless Wii

The guys over at Nuts, who brought us the original Topless Wii, brings another installment of its amazing series. I for one love this series, and would love to get a lot more of these out. I was going to post a youtube video, but it is pretty G rated, so if you wanted to see the topless girls, hit up Wii Games to see all the topless fun you can handle

Nerdcore 2009

Here is the next installation of the Nerdcore Calendar series. My favorite is still the Video Games, but you can't beat Science Fiction when it comes to Nerdy culture. This calendar is to drop on November 15, and if you pre-order before November 1st, you will get an exclusive poster. Check out Totally Nerdcore for more info on this great calendar.

Hammer Mario

I have actually had the Mario finished for a while now, but it has taken me a while to get the hammers made. I thought the Munny form well suited Mario in this form. Not much to say about this except that I made the hammers from scratch, which was a real pain. I used acrylic paint, mighty putty for the hammers, epoxy putty for the Mario sculpt, and an old plastic Easter egg for the shell. Check out more pictures at My Flickr Page.

Luigi Action Figure

Here is my latest custom, a Luigi action figure. I have been wanting to try my hand at making an action figure, but I could not find my inspiration. This is what I think Luigi would look like if her were real and on steroids. I made the overalls, shoes, and mustache from mighty putty. I got the hat from another Luigi figure that I picked up. I know this is a little out of my realm, so any criticism would help me the next time I decide to butcher an action figure...LOL. Check out more pictures on My Flickr Page

Alien Koala

I have posted this on a bunch of message boards, but I just realized I forgot to post it here. Here is KodyKoala's Halloween Costume. He told me he wanted to be a little green Martian, so I made him into one. I was fortunate enough to get the Munny Teddy Bear, and so I converted it into a Koala. This is one of my first times that I used Mighty Putty, and I must say that I love it. It sands a lot easier than epoxy putty. I am hoping to make a new version of Kody every year, but it depends on how my schedule looks. For more pictures, check out My Flickr Site

Bowser Chariot

If you frequent My Flickr Page, then you have probably seen this idea floating around for a while. I had to add princess peach to the final concept because the figures that I got to use for the munny, were slightly too small and I didn't want to waste space. I decided to add the princess because in the last level of the game, she would pop up and give Mario a mushroom in the middle of his long battle with Bowser Koopa. Hopefully I can get a munny and start on this soon. I have to go back up to Maryland for work, so I think that will be when I get a chance to work on it.

Moon Pearl Link Concept Art

Moon Pearl Link

I know that I did a 3" Dunny with this concept, but lately I have been revisiting old designs and trying to figure out how to improve them. This is Link from Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past, when he didn't have this Moon Pearl. The original concept was good, but the follow through wasn't very good because I was just starting on my customs, and I was in a rush. Now I see that taking your time and adding a lot of details make your piece stand out even more. I added some shading and fur effects to make this idea a little bit better. I would love to hear what you think about it.

Mega Man Mighty Mugg

I have finally finished my first Mighty Mugg! I have had this drawn out for months, but I never got around to actually making him. This was a little interesting because I didn't know how to take the arms and head off until I was more than half way done, so I just left it all on and painted around it. It came out very nice, and I can't wait to do my next one. If you want to check out more pictures, you can see them at My Flickr Page

Halloween Pic

I am still in the Halloween spirit, so I wanted to draw up a Halloween Greeting with my Kody Koala Alien Costume. Doesn't he look cute sitting in his wagon with all of his candy? The more I use Illustrator, the better I seem to get at it. This would have taken me a long time when I first started, but it only took me a couple hours. The main reason it took so long was that I couldn't think of what to do. I hope you like it!
